Design
The obverse of the Wombat coin features Queen Elizabeth II and the face value of 1 Australian Dollar. The reverse side of the coin features a Wombat. These animals are known for digging large tunnel systems, which is why the Wombat is depicted underground. The coin bears the text 'WOMBAT' at the top and the year of issue, weight and fineness of silver at the bottom. On the left-hand side, there is another 'P' as an abbreviation for the mint house.
